When brainstorming what would allow us to fundraise the most money, we proposed charging students to pie the most controversial characters of Westbourne with whipped cream.
Despite being a fun lunchtime event, we raised $1,600 for the Red Cross Türkiye-Syria Earthquakes Appeal—a big shoutout to the students who sacrificed their pretty faces and hairdos for the cause. Thank you to all the students who got involved and donated; it brought the Westbourne community together in a fun and charitable activity.
The money raised supports the Red Cross and Red Crescent partners in providing:
emergency relief assistance such as search and rescue and first aid services, health, shelter and non-food items.
specialist aid workers to assist local teams to respond to the crisis.
help people to restore contact with family members separated by the earthquake by offering services to maintain family links and locate missing family members.
monitoring and evaluation of the operation.
