Waking Up To IB DP Results

As our inaugural students enter their final year of high school at Westbourne College Sydney, it is a nerve wrecking yet exciting year for us all.

On 3 January 2022, over 3000 Australasian IB Diploma students received their results. This was a momentous occasion which tells the tale of students having recently completed the rigorous yet rewarding IB Diploma Programme over the past two years. From the 2021 examination session, an Australian students' average result was 37 (ATAR 95.2) out of a possible 45 with a pass rate of 98%, 877 Australian students received above 40 (ATAR 97.9). For Westbourne though, our academic excellence is led by Westbourne School UK where 50% of Westbourne students achieved over 40 points (ATAR 97.9), with 85% attaining 7/6 , 96.8% 7-5 in 2021. Westbourne’s average IB Point score of 39 (ATAR 97.1) places the school within the top 25 IB schools worldwide, where 38 IB points is the minimum entry-level to Oxbridge. Completing a STEM-focused IB Diploma provides Westbourne students with pathways to many global opportunities. International university options abound for IB Graduates with more than 5,000 universities in over 100 different countries receive IB transcripts each year, including the Ivy League and the UK’s top universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Kings College and UCL.

So, while it’s been an exciting year to see our DP1 students develop over 2021 here at Westbourne College Sydney, we’re even more excited as they transition to DP2, to see how each student will continue writing their own tale in a year that will truly set them on their next path.
